Time Flies… Prepare Now for Windows 7 End of Life

When it was released in 2009, Microsoft made a commitment to provide 10 years of product support for Windows 7. Time flies and Microsoft has announced its plan to discontinue Windows 7 support so that it can focus investments on supporting newer technologies.

The specific end of support day for Windows 7 will be January 14, 2020. After that, technical assistance and software updates that help protect your PCs will no longer be available from Microsoft.

If you continue to use Windows 7 after support has ended, your PCs will still work, but they may become more vulnerable to security risks and viruses. In addition, Microsoft will no longer provide the following services for your business…

  • No technical support
  • No software updates
  • No security updates

Microsoft will deliver a handful of reminder notifications through the end of 2019 and recommend actions to take ahead of Windows 7 end of support.

To avoid security risks and viruses, DataLink recommends that you upgrade your PCs and Servers as soon as possible. Need help with the transition? We Make IT Easy.
